Description
A sunset wine tasting in Salento is even better when it happens at Villa Neviera, an estate from the 1800s ringed by vineyards, old olive groves and quiet countryside. The evening starts with a host who introduces the villa, its history and its link with the land around it. Its past is remarkable: in wartime it was nicknamed "Torre del Rifugio", the refuge of King Victor Emmanuel III and Queen Elena, who came here once they had left Rome after the armistice.
The tasting is guided and features a selection of wines from Cantine Due Palme, a Salento winery founded in 1989 and awarded in Italy and abroad. Along the way you hear about Puglia's native grapes and how winemaking is rooted in local custom, while traditional Salento specialties are served to go with each glass.
As the light fades over the vines, you can step outside, relax and watch the colours change. If it rains, the experience moves indoors to the villa's historic Sala Marchesale. It suits couples, friends and wine lovers of legal drinking age.
