Description

The Virgilian Staircase derives its name from the place where the home of the great poet Publius Vergilius Marone stood, where he died in 19 BC. From the outside, one can read an inscription that commemorates the event, while inside, there are full arches. The staircase, which appeared halved until the early years of the 1900s, was enlarged in 1933 to give it its current appearance.
