The Island of Sant'Andrea, the Alfonsino Castle, and the Giant Sea Turtles Join us on an exciting kayak and canoe excursion to discover one of the most picturesque stretches of Brindisi’s middle harbor. We will paddle through crystal-clear waters dominated by the majestic Alfonsino Castle, built with carparo stone blocks, rising like a towering natural cliff over the sea. - A journey through time along the Island of Sant’Andrea Paddling along the Island of Sant’Andrea means immersing yourself in a past where its fortresses stood for centuries as the stronghold of the West against Ottoman expansion. Amid emerald-green waters and jackdaws soaring over the ancient towers, the imposing silhouette of Alfonsino Castle stands against the sky in the heart of the middle harbor. - Sea Turtle Spotting During the excursion, you will take part in our biosurveillance and research activity, observing the large Caretta caretta sea turtles that permanently inhabit these nutrient-rich waters teeming with marine life. - Crossing the Bocche di Puglia Bridge After a brief informative break on the geological nature of the area, the excursion will continue with the crossing of the historic stone bridge at the Bocche di Puglia pass. From here, you can admire the view of the open sea and enjoy a refreshing swim in a truly unique setting.
